Inside an enclosed room, the constraint is usually the room itself rather than viewing distance, since everyone present is within a few metres of the board regardless of its size. Here, the limiting factor tends to be how much wall space is actually free once a screen, credenza or window is accounted for, rather than how far people need to read from. A board that fills the available wall without overwhelming the room usually works better than the largest board that will physically fit. This constraint rarely changes once a room’s layout is set, which is why it deserves attention before a board is ordered rather than after.
