How long does it take to order and install a premium whiteboard?
Specification phase
The timeline starts with agreeing the surface, frame material or colour, shape and size against the project brief, which usually takes a few days once samples or a colour reference have been reviewed. This stage moves fastest when the specification has already been checked against a list such as our specification checklist rather than decided from scratch.
Approval phase
For a project specified through an architect or fit-out partner, the chosen panel usually needs sign-off against the technical specification, or on larger projects against the BIM model, before production is confirmed. Building this approval step into the programme early avoids it becoming the bottleneck later in the project.
Production phase depends on what is being made
Lead time varies significantly by product type:
- Standard formats in a plain ceramic steel finish are produced fastest, since no additional manufacturing steps are needed
- Custom whiteboards in a specific size or shape add cutting and finishing time beyond a standard panel
- Whiteboard walls take longer in proportion to panel count, since each panel and joint needs to be produced to match the others
- Glassboards follow a different production process to ceramic steel and are scheduled separately
- Custom finishes, such as an oak frame or a SatinTones colour, add the most time, since the oak needs to be cut, fitted and hand-lacquered, and a fired colour needs an additional firing step
Delivery
Larger or heavier panels, particularly oak-framed shapes or a multi-panel whiteboard wall, need to be scheduled around lift access and delivery windows in the building, which can add time compared with a smaller standard board. Confirming site access early avoids a finished panel arriving before it can actually be brought up to the room.
Installation
Once on site, mounting a premium whiteboard typically takes less time than the manufacturing and delivery stages combined, since the wall fixings and position are usually agreed during specification. A whiteboard wall takes longer to install than a single panel simply because of the number of panels being aligned and joined.
Final handover
Handover includes confirming the installed panel matches the approved specification and providing any warranty or maintenance documentation for the project file. For a specified project, this record matters as much as the physical installation, since it is what the facilities team will reference for maintenance and any future extension of the wall.
