If the board sits under a spotlight rather than ambient lighting, it’s worth checking how the edge looks under the room’s actual lighting before finalising the position.

Glass boards are the other common way to achieve a minimal look, but they solve a different problem: glare and reflection rather than edge visibility. Glass surfaces generally need more careful cleaning to avoid streaking.
