What a bespoke quote should specify before you sign off on it
An exact panel count and dimensions, not an approximate range
A quote listing “approximately 5 panels” rather than a precise number and set of dimensions leaves room for a different final layout than the one you actually approved. The signed-off document should state exact figures, not a range, so there’s no ambiguity once manufacturing begins.
A reference to the specific approved drawing
The quote should reference the exact drawing version being priced and manufactured against, particularly if there were earlier draft versions during the design process. Without this, it’s unclear which design is actually being built once several revisions have gone back and forth.
The finish and colour by reference code, not description
“White ceramic steel” can describe several slightly different finishes across different product lines. A specific reference code removes any ambiguity about which exact finish is being manufactured, rather than relying on a general description that could apply to more than one option.
This is a five-minute check that saves a much longer conversation later
Checking these details before signing off takes very little time compared to resolving a mismatch after panels have already been manufactured to a different specification than expected. It’s worth treating as a standard step, not an optional extra.
A firm delivery date, not a lead time estimate
“6 to 8 weeks” is harder to plan around than a specific date. Asking for a firm delivery window before signing off gives a clearer basis for planning the rest of the installation around it, rather than discovering the actual date only once production is already underway.
