How to clean and maintain a ceramic steel whiteboard
Daily cleaning: removing normal marker use
For everyday use, dry-wipe the board with a standard whiteboard eraser or a dry microfibre cloth immediately after writing. For marker residue that doesn’t come off with a dry wipe, a small amount of dedicated whiteboard cleaning spray on a soft cloth is usually enough. Avoid pressing hard or scrubbing: the ceramic enamel surface doesn’t need force to clean, and abrasive scrubbing is more likely to leave streaking than to improve the result.
Removing stubborn marks or old ghosting
If marker has been left on the surface for an extended period, or a board hasn’t been cleaned in a while, a slightly larger amount of whiteboard cleaner and a longer dwell time before wiping usually resolves it. Ceramic steel’s erasability is rated as effortless with a flawless result, which in practice means old marks lift cleanly rather than leaving the faint shadow, or ‘ghosting’, that can build up on lower-grade painted whiteboard surfaces over time.
Cleaning products to avoid
Avoid abrasive scouring pads, solvent-based cleaners, or general household glass and surface cleaners not intended for whiteboards. These can dull the surface finish or leave a residue that affects how cleanly future marker strokes erase. A whiteboard-specific cleaning spray and a soft cloth are the safest combination for a ceramic steel surface.
