How panel layout is planned before a dry erase wall is installed
A site visit or accurate drawings come first
A supplier needs precise measurements of the wall, ceiling height and any fixed obstructions before layout can be planned properly. This comes either from a site survey or from detailed drawings supplied upfront, and skipping this step is the most common cause of a layout needing revision later, once an installer discovers the real measurements differ from what was assumed.
A layout drawing is produced before manufacturing starts
Once measurements are confirmed, a supplier typically produces a layout drawing showing panel positions, sizes and joins for approval. This is the point to raise any concerns, since changes become far more difficult once panels have actually been manufactured to those dimensions, particularly for a custom width at either end of the run.
Symmetry and visual balance get considered, not just fit
A layout that technically fits the wall isn’t automatically the most visually balanced option. A good supplier will often propose centring panels or adjusting an edge panel’s width slightly so the finished wall reads as intentional rather than simply squeezed into the available space, which makes a noticeable difference to how professional the finished result looks.
Installation day mostly executes a plan already agreed
Because layout was settled during planning, installation day itself is largely about fitting panels to a plan that’s already been approved, rather than making layout decisions on the spot. This is part of why a well-planned installation tends to run to schedule.
The client signs off before anything is manufactured
A final layout drawing is usually approved in writing before panels go into production, since this stage is the last realistic opportunity to change panel count, sizing or position without delay or additional cost once manufacturing has already begun.
