Most meeting room whiteboards are chosen for size and surface quality, then mounted on whatever wall is available. That is a reasonable approach for a working document, but it leaves a visible, frequently used part of the office saying nothing about the company inside it. Meeting rooms are also seen by more than the people sitting in them: video calls, client visits and internal signage now put these spaces on display far more often than a standard board was ever designed for.

Royal Cosun’s brief treated the whiteboard itself as part of the room’s identity, not an accessory added to it afterwards.

Rather than printing a logo onto a rectangular board, Chameleon waterjet-cut the ceramic steel panel itself into the shape of the word “Unlock”. Mounted against a solid green accent wall, the cut lets the wall colour show through the negative space of the letterforms, so the wordmark is formed by the wall rather than added on top of the board.

This is branding through colour and branding through shape working as a single technique rather than two separate decisions: the shape only reads as a wordmark because the wall colour behind it is part of the design, and the wall colour only becomes a logo because the board is cut to the right outline.

The wordmark cut-out was not a one-off installation. A second meeting room repeats the identical shape against a yellow accent wall instead of green, alongside a wall-mounted video screen and Royal Cosun’s own circular logo mark positioned above the board. The result is a small, repeatable design system: the same custom whiteboard shape, recoloured per room, so each space is identifiable by its accent colour while staying visibly part of the same branding concept.

That repeatability matters for a project like this. A one-off branded board is a feature; the same cut-out shape used consistently across multiple rooms is a design standard the workplace can keep applying as it grows.

Close up, the cut edge shows exactly how the technique works: the ceramic steel stops precisely at the outline of each letter, with no applied vinyl or printed layer sitting on top. Because the shape is cut into the material itself rather than added to it, there is nothing to peel, fade or need replacing over time. The board still functions as a writing surface for meeting notes, while the outer wordmark shape does the work a logo on the wall or a sign by the door would normally do.

Across Royal Cosun’s meeting rooms, that means brand identity is not confined to reception or signage. It continues into the working spaces themselves, in a form that also earns its place as a functional whiteboard.
