5 questions to ask before retrofitting a dry erase wall
What's actually behind the wall?
Pipes, cabling or structural elements behind a wall can affect where panels can be safely mounted. Checking this before installation, rather than discovering it on the day, avoids a layout change partway through the job that pushes the whole schedule back.
Is the wall surface flat and sound?
An uneven or damaged wall surface may need preparation before panels can be mounted properly. Asking a supplier to check this during a site visit avoids an installation day surprise that delays the job while preparation work is arranged on the spot.
How much disruption will installation actually cause?
Retrofitting is usually quick, but confirming exactly how long the room will be unusable, and whether that includes drying or curing time for any preparation work, helps plan around it properly rather than assuming the room will be free again the same afternoon.
Will existing fixtures need to move?
Light switches, artwork or shelving already on the wall may need relocating before a dry erase wall can go up. Confirming this early avoids last-minute scrambling to move something on installation day itself, when the installer is already on site and ready to start.
